- Dawn Herring It's like making decisions...when we see a small decision turn out well, we have more confidence and go for more. Successes.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I like to call that development. We go from the small to bigger and bigger.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples By the way, I desire to live in Italy. I know that will give me plenty to write about.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Journaling helps us stay in alignment. It helps us sort out head talk from heart talk.
- Dawn Herring I think it's really a metamorphosis, where we change and desire and grow as we keep realigning with Who We Are truly.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Who We Truly Are. Yes, we keep discovering that.
- Debra DiPietro I made changes too. I left a 20-year-old marriage and I am now with my own prince charming. I left education to pursue a career in writing and social media.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Journaling is a magic tool to get us closer, faster.
- Dawn Herring I think that's where our desires come from.. the core of our being. So if we listen and follow through, our truest more authentic life can be made possible.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I wish I could give everyone the gift of journaling -- and meditation.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons We are here together because of alignment and attracting more of what we desire. We will help each other - just wait and see!
- Dawn Herring Closer faster, yes, Kelly, because we're paying attention, listening and loving ourselves from the inside out.
- Dawn Herring Wow, Kelly. Yes, we are aligned, aren't we? We're in this together.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons And it's a continual practice, the paying attention, listening and loving ourselves.
- Debra DiPietro Journal writing helps keep the chatter of the outside world out.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I found journals from two years exactly this month and so much has come to fruition that I had forgotten I even wrote!
- Dawn Herring Oh yes, Debra (Welcome back!) and to you, Madeline. The Chatter. or Krap radio as Marie Forleo just called it.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons And yes to gift it to all would be sooo wonderful.
- Dawn Herring That's why I host this #JournalChat community so that others can learn about it too. I can't sing journaling praises enough, really.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I do believe in magic and the more I believe, the more magic happens.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I'm the same way. I love to tell people about journaling.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I started by keeping a gratitude journal. It has become so much deeper.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I'm grateful too. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for following Dawn for the last couple of years. She has helped me create my journaling habit.
- Dawn Herring That reminds me of that song, Do You Believe in Magic. I think it's also about trusting ourselves, believing in our dreams. Because we have to be on our own side to really care about what it is we want in life.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I think we've all had dreams come true as a result. We created that ourselves.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons We really do create our lives and it took me a long time to get that.
- Dawn Herring Gratitiude...you know, even thought I already write a list about my day with stars and Xs, perhaps a bit more gratitude is a good idea. Get more specific than ever. The more detail than ever.
- Dawn Herring It's like my decision to paint every day. That was a major task in itself having to convince myself that everything else can wait.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons As Abraham Hicks says, yes move from general to specific.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I haven't done a gratitude list for awhile. It's time for another one.
- Dawn Herring I'm with you, Madeline. Sometimes I write a list of everything that is stressing me and then I write a list about everything that refreshes me. I need to do that again.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I just did handpainted journals for a ladies conference and I was so hesitant to put them out there. I have never done anything like that. And they sold well! Ladies loved them!
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I am a huge proponent of daily gratitudes. That energy propels us into the good stuff.
- Dawn Herring Handpainted journals...do you mean an art journals or did you paint the covers, Kelly?
- Dawn Herring Yes, that is the Magic of Gratitude...it creates a shift in our energy as we focus on what we are blessed with.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Bottom line is trusting ourselves and following our inner wisdom. That voice sometimes speaks loudest and clearest in the journal.
- Dawn Herring I love it, Kelly, to paint daily. It helps me to Honor Myself as an Artist, plus I get more paintings completed that way! I'm building up a portfolio. I've been a lifelong artist but picked up watercolor 4 years ago and never looked back. And I'm having a magical blast!
- Madeline Tasky Sharples And there's no reason not to have that trust and inner wisdom happen all the time. We are responsible for what we put in our journals.
- Dawn Herring I agree with you ladies. The journal does seem to make that voice a little bit louder so we hear that wisdom all the more and then can implement it daily. And thanks, Madeline.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I painted the cover of the journals. They had a gold base and each was different. And of course I put words. And a note in the back that I painted each stroke with love and that this book was a place for their divine wisdom to speak to them.
- Dawn Herring Sounds absolutely lovely, Kelly. I'd love to see a photo if you have one.
- Dawn Herring They have to be our best friends with all that we put in there! The good, the bad and the magical...
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Encouraging people to believe in their dreams and take steps, baby steps or leaps, is my mission. Journaling is a magical tool.
- Dawn Herring You know, I think that when we desire to do something, that when we feel a bit insecure about putting it out there, that that's a sure sign that we really need to. We can hash that out in our journals.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I know a two and a half year old girl who writes/draws (scribbles) in a journal every night before she goes to sleep. She is getting a wonderful habit. I've given her a few of my blank journals.
- Dawn Herring It's important to know what our purpose is in the world...mine is to help people to love themselves from the inside out through appreciation, validation and nurture, activating their creative center and refreshing themselves into personal empowerment to leave their meaningful mark in the world.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I've learned to hash out everything in my journals - and that's how my memoir got started.
- Dawn Herring Oh my gosh, Madeline, I love hearing about Children journaling!
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Yes to feeling insecure about putting our desires out there and yes to the journal best friend who is always a voice of wisdom and love.
- Dawn Herring What can we do with that insecurity? I do mind maps to figure out what's holding me back or dialogue to ask what I'm afraid of. It's amazing what I come away with.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Exactly. Asking my journal/inner wisdom/loving self "what am I afraid of" reveals a lot.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I need to do a mind map. Thanks for the reminder, Dawn.
- Dawn Herring I love how journaling is such a priority for you, Kelly. It really shows a focus and loyalty to honoring yourself and your desires. So important.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons how do you do your mind map -- the circles sprouting off from the main q?
- Madeline Tasky Sharples And since we can tell our journal everything we can tell it about our fears along with our desires.
- Dawn Herring Madeline they can be fun too. I love doing associations like that. It's a magical process and very visual.
- Dawn Herring Yes, Kelly. I only circle the main word and then I use lines to connect the associations. And it gets crowded fast, so I sometimes do more than one. I also write insights and lists as I go for clarification and distillation.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Sometimes I write so fast my hand hurts and other days, not a furious download but a DUH kind of answer
- Dawn Herring One good day after another becomes a good life. I love how you say this, Kelly. It's so easy to just look at the big picture and see all that we want and don't already have. But taking one moment, one day, and focusing on just that, can help us get more specific and more detailed with our desires. And more ideas come as a result too.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons We all are master manifesters. We sometimes need the reminder of our power I guess.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I think the act of writing in a journal is part of its healing power. Sometimes I type so fast and hard the tips of my fingers start hurting. That happens a lot when I'm ranting.
- Dawn Herring Oh, we do, Kelly. Many don't either know they have it, don't believe it, or feel powerless due to their life circumstances. That's why I'm such a huge proponent of personal power and activating it and paying close attention to when I'm not in it so I can back to it as soon as possible!
- Dawn Herring My heart goes out to you, Madeline. I understand the rant. I use big letters when I'm really needing to release something stressful.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples Never. All my stuff is there, but locked and only accessible by me.
- Dawn Herring I noted your words, A healthier perspective, Kelly. Journaling always gives me a healthier truer perspective, especially when I am in discovery mode and know a positive change I need to make. And then I make it which increases the quality of my life.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I am using my journal to eat healthier lately. I write in my desires "I crave water today. Lots of water." and I end drinking more water.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons I am living my dreams now and in discovery mode for the next level of what dreams can come true!
- Dawn Herring That's like my taking my walks. I feel stronger when I walk. So I write down I'm going to walk and then I say I walked later and star it in my list.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Believe me this former IRS agent never believed in the power of dreaming!
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I wish my journaling would help me get my husband to eat healthier. He has a real sweet tooth.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples Dawn Herring. That's how journaling keeps us accountable. I say I'm going to blog or write a poem or whatever, and I need to keep my agreements with myself. One of my gurus said: Keep your agreements and your life will work.
- Sarah Forrest My journal is chaos trying to sort out the good, bad and magical but it never fails me.
- Dawn Herring Kelly, you share in your article about being more productive.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples No. He used to but not for a long time. He's been meditating and walking so that helps.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Sarah Forrest experiment with focusing on the magical and see what happens.
- Dawn Herring I guess in one sense we all start with the chaos of life which we sort out by expressing our life experience. I think over time life gets less chaotic the more we journal, Sarah.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons and yes Dawn, I write desires for specific tasks and that helps me be more productive. It's attention and awareness and focus.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Dawn nailed. Life gets better the more we journal.
- Dawn Herring Keeping your agreements is essentially honoring Who You Are. I guess painting daily is an agreement!
- Madeline Tasky Sharples The focus is important. That's why I journal before doing other writing work for the day.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons USE the journal. BELIEVE it can help you go deeper into you. TRUST that you are ready to honor your agreements with you.
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I'm going to take a little break. I'll be back before you close.
- Kelly Epperson Simmons We each are on a journey. The journal is part of our GPS.
- Dawn Herring That sounds like such a powerful summary of your word to folks who want to keep a journal, Kelly. In other words you answered my question before I even asked it!
- Dawn Herring Oh I love that GPS idea; gives us a perfect path to pursue as we listen, and do!
- Kelly Epperson Simmons Sometimes taking the scenic route is the best route!
- Dawn Herring You are so sweet, Kelly! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your journaling process and the magic in the pages and what a difference our desires can make for one beautiful day after another! Woot!
- Kelly Epperson Simmons A happy life is a string of happy moments. We have the power to create more happy moments.
- Dawn Herring Yes we do! That's the power of creating. We all have it and we need to all use it to make the world a better place!
- Dawn Herring This magic moment has been brought to you by special guests, Madeline Tasky Sharples, Debra DiPietro and our special focus person for today's topic on Desiring our Days, Kelly Epperson Simmons! (And myself as your host.)
- Madeline Tasky Sharples I love the GPS idea as well. Thanks Kelly Epperson Simmons. thanks everyone. This has been a wonderful experience. Love to all.
